We have been speaking with experts like health officials and scientists, other gym owners, the Climbing Wall Association, city leaders and others to gather information about the best way to come back during the pandemic and have decided that Rockreation will join a growing Coalition of over 20 Indoor Climbing Center Companies representing over 50 locations to ask our leadership in CA to consider our data and allow us to open up at a limited capacity.

We have three great ways for you to help during this time. All contributions will go toward the survival of our facilities, allowing us to continue making payments on rent, utilities, insurance, debts, and our employees.
We realize that everyone is in a different financial state but if you are able to continue your membership dues at Rockreation we need your support.
Even though we are closed now, purchase a future membership with us. Consider which membership might make the most sense for you! Prepaid Memberships are an easy way to make a one-time payment, and Recurring Monthly EFT Memberships can give you more control when managing your account.
Give the gift of climbing to a friend or fitness enthusiast. Great for an array of things like memberships, rentals, chalk, and more! Gift cards never expire and may be applied to those amenities once available.
We will be posting updates as we receive them, please check our social media sites @rockreation or @rockreationLA
Rockreation Members,
Happy New Year! Thank you for sticking by us throughout this pandemic. As we seem to still be navigating all of those ups and downs, we hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and well. We are optimistic that over the next couple of months we will turn the corner on this and we will be able to reopen our doors.
We are working with the state to safely reopen as soon as possible, and we would not be able to get through this without the help and generosity of you, our members. We hope that this new year brings more kindness, gratitude, and climbing to everyone. We look forward to seeing you all back climbing in the near future. We will be updating our website with news updates as they come.
Best Regards,
Rockreation Management Team
Rockreation Members,
On 11/16/2020 the State of CA mandated that Orange County move back into the most restrictive tier, the Purple or Widespread tier. LA and OC are now closed to members. We are open for Kids Camps and Programs under the State guidelines for Camps.
We are disappointed and saddened by this, but we are also already looking forward to the day when we can all be back together, participating in the sport that we all love. We are working hard to have Rockreation’s climbing centers ready to go as soon as we are allowed.
Until then, stay safe and keep up your fitness. If you are able to help us by sending letters through the CICC link above, or by maintaining your membership, or by purchansing a gift card for the holidays to be used at a later date when we are open again, we would greatly appreciate it. This helps us continue to pay rent, utilities, insurance and employees.
Best Regards,
Rockreation Management Team
Hello Rockreation Family,
It has been a long seven months and we are hoping this newsletter finds you all safe and healthy. We are excited to see those of you who have been climbing at our OC location and missing those of you who have not made it back yet.
We have been working hard to evaluate our situation and make good decisions for all our members and staff as to when and how we can open. We have been speaking with experts like health officials and scientists, other gym owners, the Climbing Wall Association, city leaders and others to gather information about the best way to come back during the pandemic. We believe that the evidence shows that we are a unique environment that has high ceilings, great ventilation, and large spaces so we could be open at a limited capacity right now.
With this information in mind, Rockreation has decided to join a growing Coalition of over 20 Indoor Climbing Center Companies representing over 50 locations to ask our leadership in CA to consider our data and allow us to open up at a limited capacity.
We look forward to the day we can all be together participating in the sport we love. Here’s to seeing you all soon!
Sincerely,
Rockreation
Dear Rockreation Members,
These are trying times and we hope that you are doing well. The Governor of California has unveiled new guidelines for reopening procedures. LA and Orange County are still on the watchlist as of today. Once a county is taken off the watchlist, it will be a countdown of 21 days to be moved to a lower tier. You can look at the details here: https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/
September dues- we will be drafting a $7 freeze fee in September, same as last month. We appreciate your support thus far and hope for your continued support this month.

Dear Rockreation Family,
We are extremely saddened by the most recent news. We were just starting to believe that we could enjoy climbing and our community of climbers again. The Governor of California called for the immediate closure of fitness gyms that have been on the county watchlist for more than 3 consecutive days.
Rockreation will be closing again on July 13th, 2020 until further notice.
We will be posting updates as we receive them, please check our social media sites @rockreation or @rockreationLA
Rockreation is opened to the public by reservation only. See the links above to sign up for membership and to make a reservation with us! Excited to see you (safely) soon!
Dear Rockreation Family,
Thank you to everyone for your patience during our closure . We are excited to announce that Rockreation will be reopening its doors Monday, 6/22/2020 to members only. Living with Covid-19 has been challenging, but we are hoping to make new indoor climbing life as simple as possible. If you feel that you are not ready to come to the gym, we hope to see you in our virtual Yoga and Fitness Classes.
We plan to open up in 3 phases. State and local guidelines will determine when we will see more parts of the gym open up and capacity increases. Our management team will be reviewing information daily but making decisions every two weeks. We are balancing providing the best possible service, with your health in mind.
Prorated membership fees will be charged on Monday, 6/22/2020, for the rest of June. If you do not wish to be unfrozen, please email us ASAP.

High touch surface areas will be cleaned throughout the day along with other cleaning protocols developed in Rockreation’s Covid-19 adapted cleaning procedure.
Reminder
“Just because some businesses are opening doesn’t mean your risk for COVID-19 is gone. We all need to continue to keep physical distancing, wash our hands and wear face coverings in public,” said Dr. Sonia Angell, State Public Health Officer and Director of the California Department of Public Health. “As we continue to release guidance on how different sections can reopen with modifications, it is important to remember guidance doesn’t mean ‘go.’ Your local health officer will make the final decision about which sectors will open, guided by data specific to your community.”
